Uluru Climbers

There’s a single handrailed path up to the top of Uluru, for the benefit of those tourists who don’t feel like they’ve really got the full experience of something until they’ve stood on top of it. The billboard-sized sign you can see there explains that the aborigines consider the climb (and the rock itself) sacred, and that they’d really strongly prefer you respect their beliefs and stay on the ground. Needless to say there’s a pretty steady stream of people going up and down the thing.

The steep cliff on the right-hand side of the trail is dotted with a not insignificant number of hats.
