Uluru: a sense of scale

Like the opera house, this is one of those landmarks that’s already so familiar that the real thing is supposed to look just like the postcard. It very much does not, though: the postcards don’t give you any sense of the size of the damn thing.

This is a photo of just one corner of the rock. Those little specks about halfway up are people. The thing is just eye-bendingly large.
