Seven Mile Road

Seven Mile Road in Carrizo plain is optimistically posted every few hundred feet by regular city street signs marking cross streets — one or two of which actually exist.

those are leftovers from a developer

who had planned to build a massive suburb here. Stupid idea. Lucky it became a national monument instead.

There was still a single trailer hitched up to a rusty pickup truck, with a chicken coop on one side and sign marking it very officially as an agency for Investment Opportunities — wish I could remember the name, it was very flannel-grey-suit. I can just imagine what their website must look like.
