One Hundred Thousand Shares Of Me

3/31/05

Which begs the question, what would one share look like? Would anyone like three-quarters of a gram of me?

Forward-looking statement based on management’s expectation of future caloric input; actual weight per share could differ materially from those contained in any forward-looking statements.

Setting up a corporation is surprisingly easy: basically you give Sherwood Guernsey some money, sign your name a few dozen times, and you’re done. (And look how pretty the stock certificate is. Sherwood didn’t tell me there’d be animals involved; I wonder if there were different designs available. Like personalized checks, just bigger. I’d have enjoyed a moose.)

No, what turns out to be difficult, apparently, is remembering that the corporate checking account and the corporate savings account are not the same thing, before you write your very first check to Sherwood. I’ve never bounced a check in my entire life, but I managed to do it first try. Not the most auspicious start for a new company. Hopefully it’s all uphill from here.
