Voting in Savoy
At the polling place there was something new: a shiny electronic box with an animated screen saying “insert ballot here.”
One of the poll workers made a disgusted face and motioned us instead towards the handcranked wooden ballot box with the clockwork counter that they’ve been using for the past hundred years or so. We were voters number 82 and 83. (Which for Savoy represents about 20% voter turnout — not bad for a special election at midday.)
Part I can’t figure is why they even bothered to plug the thing in.
