A new low
Check out the fine print on this innocuous-looking form that pops up as part of Network Solutions’ login process. By confirming your email address and phone number (which is required by ICANN for domain ownership, btw) you’re also signing up to receive robocalls and SMS spam. There’s no way to skip or bypass this form; clicking the “click here to remove your consent” link just brings up a ticky box to tick and hope that they don’t “accidentally” start spamming you anyway.
Just unbelievable. Advertising is eating the web from the inside out.
I’ve known for years I need to switch registrars — netsol turned to the dark side a long time ago — but have been too lazy to go through the hassle... I think this may be what finally pushes me to do it. Anybody know a decent, non-sleazy registrar?
