Fixing The Algorithm

For the past few weeks I've been performing a little experiment on Facebook, where anytime anybody posts a link to any thing on any website, I hit the "I don't want to see this" button, then I hit "show me less from [that website]" button, then I hit "Hide all from [that website]" button. Whether I like that website or hate that website, whether it's funny or serious, whether I agree with it or disagree with it, FOX or TPM or anything in between, it gets blocked.

It's amazing. My Facebook experience is almost bullshit-free now. I can scroll down the whole page and there's almost nothing there except my friends talking about what's going on in their lives.

Highly recommended.

(This is of course the inverse of an experiment recounted in WIRED recently -- no link, for what I hope are obvious reasons -- where the guy automatically 'liked' everything in his feed for a couple weeks, and drowned in politics and advertisements. I like my results better)
