So I'm no book editor but if your book is about the moon exploding and its debris slowly destroying the entire planet, maybe waiting until page 547 for any of the characters to even mention the question of hey wait why did the moon explode is, you know, a problem?

(I'm gonna give him a pass on sending a major character off into deep space and then forgetting about him for a couple hundred pages and then lampshading his return by having a character say oh wow, forgot about that guy, huh, we've been pretty busy. Because in fairness they had been pretty busy what with the world ending and all.)
